Established in honour of Bermuda’s first Olympic gold medalist, the Flora Duffy Award supports the development of the island’s most promising junior athletes. Inspired by a world-class champion, this award is dedicated to empowering young Bermudians who demonstrate exceptional potential and are committed to reaching the highest levels of achievement in sport.

The Flora Duffy Award is administered through the National Junior Athlete Sponsorship Committee as a specialized extension of its efforts to recognize and develop Bermuda’s future elite athletes.
Purpose
The Flora Duffy Award is designed to provide strategic support to one exceptional Bermudian athlete each year who:
✅Is not currently receiving other sources of athletic funding
✅Shows strong potential to attain elite performance status at the senior level
✅Demonstrates commitment, discipline, and passion for their sport
What the Award Includes
The recipient will receive direct financial assistance to support key areas of athletic development, including:

Coaching and training fees

Travel and accommodation for international competitions or training camps

Participation in qualifying events that build experience and exposure
Only one male or female athlete will be selected per year, in collaboration with their respective National Sport Governing Body (NSGB).
